The team purchased a 1987 BMW 325i, with the intention of turning it into a track/sprint car. Using skill that we have not yet obtained in life, the transformation was due to take two years, of occasional, part time work. parts were sourced from:
1. After market suppliers
2. Ebay
The sale of parts from the car and careful purchase and selling on of race suits has enable the project to be mostly self financing. The car even started to look good too!
So what went wrong....? Rust, is the long and short of it. Both the inner rear wheel arches are rusted through in a few places most importantly on the Drivers side, to secure fuel tank and pipes. During the fitting of the front adjustable shocks the front jacking point dissappeared into the Drivers footwell. Leaving the pedal position damaged. Since £200.00 plus was needed to replace the faults with the front suspension it was decided to throw in the towel and try a different car. The BMW was worth marginally more in parts than it was whole, so the car was broken for spares. All to go towards the purchase of the Skoda....
